This one day course is intended for all workers in the petroleum industry who could be exposed to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas, also known as "sour gas". This course is required for people who work in the field in the oil industry and in non-petroleum industries, such as; waste water plants, nuclear reactors, breweries, and anywhere H2S gas may be present.
Anyone can attend this course. No prerequisites are required; however, it is recommended for individuals over the age of 14 years.
Each participant is required to operate in class: A self contained breathing apparatus, a detector tube device and perform rescues.
The following items are covered in this H2S Alive course: The physical properties and health hazards of H2S gas, how to protect oneself, how to operate personal gas detectors and basic rescue techniques.
